Twitter Takes on Phishing with New Security Features

For Twitter their problem has been spam and phishing on their site. Tonight twitter announce that it will be steeping up measures to stop spam and phishing with some new features.

In a blog post, Twitter writes that the protection works by “routing all links submitted to Twitter through this new service … even if a bad link is already sent out in an email notification and somebody clicks on it, we’ll be able keep that user safe.”

We are unsure how twitter will do this, but twitter says start looking for “twt.tl”.

Firefox pulls a Dr Frankenstein and bolts on WebKit JavaScript engine to speed things up

Mozilla is working on a new, faster scripting engine called JägerMonkey. It has now come to light that Apple’s WebKit project and its JavaScript native code generator JSCore will be powering the things that speed things up.

Firefox already has strong code optimization in its current JavaScript engine name TraceMonkey, but as that code ages Firefox becomes slower to the other browsers powered by webkit. These other browsers are now pushing one the reason why you should switch to Firefox, Chrome has many plugins, Opera is the fastest browser, and Safari has a fast rendering engine.

Update: Techcrunch has been put back to the update button, but I have looked and my account is still on tweet!

You Still Need Business Cards

Do you still carry around business cards? Well the webworkerdaily’s have given us a great reason why you should always have some. We know you can just tell people google my name you will find my info. Well read this and tell us what you think.

WebWorkerDaily’s take:

There are times when even the most web-oriented among us have to meet with people face-to-face. Being able to hand out a business card does more than guarantee that they have your contact information and even goes beyond making it easy to pass it along. It can help establish your professionalism. Depending on the type of work you do, there can be some difficulty in reminding your contacts that you’re a professional — after all, you spend most of your day at home or the coffee shop. But little touches like a professional business card can really help remind clients and colleagues that you are a professional, no matter where you’re working at.

Change In Feeds

I have found a few things as I have been updating the site. We are getting more and more readers accessing our articles through feeds. We are going to make a large change to the feed to make sure we can still monetize the site. We are going to add ads below the content on all the post. We have checked what other blogs have done to keep users and still monetize the blog. Unlike Ars Technica we don’t mind you blocking the ads, we just want you to enjoy the content and if the ads are too much block them. I do want you to complain if you think the ads are over whelming. We are not going to make the feeds have only a small part of the post, and force you read the rest at the site because that becomes annoying.
